The following are frequently asked questions (FAQs) about CalAmp K-12 reports.

My company just started using the CalAmp K-12 platform. How do I know which reports will be the most useful to me?

That of course depends on your user role and your company's objectives. If you need to monitor how much extra money is being spent on fuel due to excessive vehicle idling, try the Core >> Idle reports. If you need to see the miles your vehicles have driven, plus their total ignition hours, check out the Core >> Mileage reports.

A good place to start is with one of the Popular Reports categories (see Running a Popular Report). The Popular Synovia Reports category will show you the most commonly run reports across all CalAmp K-12's customers, which should give you some ideas of reports to begin with. Popular Account Reports will show you which reports other users in your organization are frequently using, which will be especially helpful if they have had more of a chance to work with the software than you have.

A resource you might want to check out is the article A Detailed Guide to the Popular and Recommended Reports.

A message appeared saying that my report will take a long time to run. What do I do at this point?

A button will appear at the top right as well, which you can click to see if the report is finished running and ready to view. If not, you can navigate away from the report results, work on a different CalAmp K-12 screen as needed (or open CalAmp K-12 on a second browser tab), and then later check Report History (see Viewing Your Report History). If the report is still running, its status will be In Progress; if it's done, this will be Complete. Click  on the far left of its row to see your results.

I'm looking at the report parameters, and I noticed a Timespan tab to the right of Date Range. What does this do?

The Timespan tab enables you to specify just one segment of the day to see the results for over a range of days — for example, just the idle time from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. for last week. You use it as follows:

  1. Click the Timespan tab.

  2. Click the Common Range drop-down arrow and select the time-of-day range (such as Morning, which will give you only report results that occurred from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.).

You also can specify times of your choosing using the Start and End time pickers.

  3. Choose one of these radio buttons:

    • Quick Range: You choose a common date range from the Quick Range drop-down list (such as Last Week).

    • Calculated: You can specify a number of days for the report results (such as the last 15 days).

    • Custom: You select the exact dates of results you want for the time range using the calendar pickers.

In the legacy version of the software (Silverlining), I used to go to the My Reports tab on the Dashboard first thing every morning. Is there something similar in the CalAmp K-12 reports?

Yes, you'll be happy to find that there is. Here's how that Silverlining functionality has been translated to the CalAmp K-12 reporting engine:

SilverliningCalAmp K-12
My Reports - Reports tabReport History: Displays the reports you have run over the course of the last 30 days. (See Viewing Your Report History.)
My Reports - Saved Reports tab
Saved Reports/Report History/report exports: On the Saved Reports screen, you can find reports you saved using the button on the results screen. (See Viewing Your Saved Reports.) Also, Report History keeps 30 days' worth of the reports you've run, saved or not. Finally, to save a report's results to your own files, you can click or  at the top right of the results screen to export them to PDF or Excel and then save that file to a folder on your computer.
My Reports - Scheduled Reports tab
Scheduled Reports: Displays all the reports you have scheduled to run on a regular basis. (If you have the Scheduled Report Admin privilege, you will see all the scheduled reports in your organization, by all users.) (See Viewing Scheduled Reports.)

Note: In addition, there is now the Dashboards screen, which has dashboards with overview data about your fleet. There are prebuilt ones provided by CalAmp K-12 that cover different areas of your fleet data, such as your hardware, Comparative Analysis, and Here Comes the Bus, and you can create customized ones for yourself. (For more details, see Viewing a Dashboard and Creating a Custom Dashboard.)

I'm being emailed a report I don't need to see. How do I remove myself from that recipients list?

If you have the Scheduled Report Admin privilege (which means that you see all the reports scheduled by all users in your company on the Scheduled Reports screen, not just your own), you can edit the schedule and remove yourself; see Changing a Scheduled Report's Name, Timetable, Recipients, or SFTP Settings for the procedure to do so (see the substeps for step 11 in particular).

If you don't have that privilege (and most CalAmp K-12 users won't), you can't unsubscribe yourself from receiving the report. Instead, you can do one of the following:
