Synovia users can receive messages within the software from the drivers of their organization's vehicles, sent via the MDT (mobile data terminal), and can reply to the drivers, in kind of a dispatch setup. This article describes the various features of the Mail screen, which you access by clicking (if you have no unacknowledged messages) or (if you have unacknowledged messages, with the number of unread ones below the icon) in the site banner. The messages you've received from the MDTs will appear in a grid with the most recent one on top.
Note: For information about the banner at the top of the screen and accordion menu on the left, see Navigating the Synovia Site.
These are the options at the top right of the screen:
- : Opens the Options dialog box, in which you can change the time frame of shown messages (such as those sent in the last 24 hours or the last 30 days) and can choose to display previously acknowledged ones.
- : Begins the process of composing a new message for a driver. (See Sending a Message to a Driver.)
- : Saves the grid data as a PDF you can print.
- : Exports the grid data to an Excel spreadsheet.
Here is an explanation of the grid's icons and column headers:
- : Deletes the message.
- : Opens the message's Details screen, which includes the message text and options to reply to the sender, track the vehicle that sent the message on a map, and find vehicles that are near it. (See Reading a Message Sent from an MDT, Replying to a Message, Tracking a Vehicle That Sent a Message, and Mapping Vehicles near the Message Sender.)
- Sent By: The vehicle that sent the message.
- Sent On: The date and time the message was sent.
- Employees: The employee(s) logged in to the vehicle's MDT at the time the message was sent.
- Location: The address from which the message was sent.
- Acked By: If the message has been acknowledged, the user who made the acknowledgment.
- Acked On: The date and time the message was acknowledged.

Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data, if needed. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
