This article describes the various features of the Students screen, which you access by clicking  >> Students. On this screen, you can view and manage your students' data and any associated RFID or bar code cards. Most customers enter this information in their route planning system, import it into Synovia, and then view it on the Students screen.

At the top right of the screen is , which begins the process of importing initial student information in bulk. (See Bulk Loading Student Data for details.)


Warning: You use the Bulk Upload option only if your school district does NOT have a route planning system. If you do, that route planner will contain all the official student data, and Synovia will import it (usually daily).


Here is an explanation of the grid icon and column headers:


  • : Opens the Information for Student screen, on which you can view and edit the student's data, including the school they attend, date of birth, grade, and student ID number, and add a new boarding card. (See Viewing and Editing a Student's Data and Adding a Student's Boarding Card for details.) 
        
  • District: The student's school district. 
      
  • Last Name: The student's last name. 
      
  • First Name: The student's first name. By default, this is the column that the Students screen is sorted by, alphabetically ascending (from A to Z). (For details on how to sort by a different column, see Sorting and Filtering Column Data.) 
      
  • School(s): The school(s) the student attends. 
      
  • Grade: The student's current grade assignment. 


Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
