If you need to add a new boarding card number for a student, follow these steps:

Warning: If your school district has a route planning system, the boarding card data will be stored by it (along with the rest of the official student information), and Synovia will import it nightly. If this is the case for your setup, if you add a boarding card using the method below, the new card data will be overwritten the next time Synovia performs its import (probably that evening).

If you don't have a route planning system, then you'll be able to use the procedure below to add a student's boarding card.

  1. Click  >> Students.

    The Students screen will appear.

  2. Click  in the row of the student who needs new boarding card data.

The Information for Student screen will appear.

  3. Click the Boarding Cards tab.

If the student has a previous boarding card assigned (that you need to replace), you'll need to deactivate it. (A  in the Active column means that the boarding card is currently active in the database.)

  4. To deactivate the card, click .

  5. To add a card, click  at the top right of the screen.

The Add New Card dialog box will appear.

  6. Type the number of the new boarding card in the New Card Number field.
Note: If you have many students' cards to add, you also could attach a USB RFID or bar code reader (depending on which type of boarding cards you use) to your computer and use it with the physical cards to enter the numbers. To do so, you would click in the New Card Number field and then scan the card for the student. The number will appear in the box.
  7. Click Add.

The number will be displayed under the deactivated one (if there was a previous card number).

  8. Click  in the row of the new card to activate it.

will appear in the row of the new boarding card to indicate that it is active.

  9.  Click  to return to the Students screen.
