If you have the Comparative Analysis (CA) module, you will need to map itineraries from your planned routing system to Synovia entities. Specifically, you use itinerary mapping to assign vehicles in Synovia to routes from the planning system.

Note: For more information about mapping, see An Introduction to Mapping. For more information about Comparative Analysis, see An Introduction to Comparative Analysis. To see how to map school and yard entities to Synovia items, see Performing Entity Mapping.

To map your planning system's routes to the Synovia vehicles that usually drive those routes, follow these steps:

Note: Follow these steps to assign one vehicle (or a few vehicles) to its route. If you have many vehicles to map, you may want to bulk load them. See Mapping Default Vehicle Assignments to Itineraries in Bulk for details.

  1. Click  >> Mapping.

The Mapping screen will appear and display the Entity Mapping tab.

  2. Click the Itinerary Mapping tab.

  3. Click the District drop-down arrow under Options and select the district (if you have more than one).

A list of your itineraries will appear in a grid.

  4. To see only itineraries with no current default vehicle, you can click Show Unassigned Only.

  5. Click  in the row of the itinerary to which you want to assign a vehicle.

The Assign Vehicle dialog box will appear.

  6. Click the Vehicle drop-down arrow and select the vehicle that usually runs this itinerary.
Note: Often, the default vehicle for an itinerary is the one with the identical number.
  7. Click the Start Date date picker and select the date the assignment should begin.

  8. Click Finish.

The vehicle will be listed in the grid with the chosen start date indicated.

  9. Perform steps 5 through 8 as many times as necessary to assign the rest of your default vehicles to their itineraries.

  10. To see historical default vehicles assigned, click Show Historical, above the grid.

  11. To export the grid data to PDF or Excel, click the  or  button at the top right of the screen.
