If you have the Comparative Analysis (CA) module, you will need to map entities such as schools and itineraries from your planned routing system to Synovia entities. They need to be linked so that the data imported from the routing system can be translated to Synovia data. School entities in the routing system need to be linked to school locations in Synovia; routes in the routing system need to be linked to their default vehicles in Synovia; and so on.

Note: For more information about Comparative Analysis, see An Introduction to Comparative Analysis.

There are two types of mapping in Synovia:

  • Entity mapping: Maps schools in the planning system to school locations in Synovia. (See Performing Entity Mapping for details.)
Note: Some customers also use entity mapping to map a vehicle in the planning system to a vehicle in Synovia, but this is not the recommended setup. Instead, we recommend using itinerary mapping.
  • Itinerary mapping: Maps a route from the planning system to an assigned vehicle (the vehicle that will normally be performing that route) in Synovia. (See Performing Itinerary Mapping and Mapping Default Vehicle Assignments to Itineraries in Bulk for details.)

Both types of mapping are performed on the Mapping screen, which you access by clicking  >> Mapping.
