The Broadcast Message feature enables you to store and transmit messages to all your Synovia users; in particular, you can use it to send time-specific messages that will expire after a preset date and time.

When you create and send out a broadcast message, it will appear to each user just after they log in, as long as they log in before the expiration date you've set. It won't appear to them more than once, unless you choose the Show Always option when creating the message.

Note: You must have administrator authorization to send a broadcast message.

This article describes the various features of the Broadcast Message screen, which you access by clicking  >> Broadcast Message.

Note: For information about the banner at the top and accordion menu on the left, see Navigating the Synovia Site.

These are the options along the top right of the screen:

  • : Begins the process of creating a new broadcast message. (See Creating a Broadcast Message for details.)

  • : Refreshes the data on the screen (which can be especially useful if other users are making changes).

  • : Deletes the selected broadcast message. (See Deleting a Broadcast Message for details.)

  • : Saves the grid data as a PDF you can print.

  • : Exports the grid data to an Excel spreadsheet.

Here is an explanation of the grid icon and column headers:

  • : Opens the Edit Message Subject screen, on which you can update the subject, text, and expiration date of the message. (See Updating a Broadcast Message for details.)
Note: If the message has already been read by users, you can't recall it or change it for them. You can change its expiration date, however. If a sent message was inaccurate, it's recommended to send another one with the corrected information.
  • Subject: The subject line of the broadcast message, which is the main idea of it, just like an email's subject.

  • Message: The full message text.

  • Users Read: The number of users who have seen the message. You can also see who specifically has read it in the message's Message History grid. (See Checking Which Users Have Read a Broadcast Message for details.)

  • Expiration Date: The date and time the message is set to expire. If a user doesn't log in to Synovia between the time you send the message and the date it expires, they won't see the message.

Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data, if needed. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
