If your employees have had shifts in the time frame you are about to do payroll on that need to have time added per your Shift Analyzer rules, you can apply those rules as follows:

Note: For details on what the Shift Analyzer is designed for, go to What Is the Shift Analyzer?.

Before you can apply any rules, they must have been created; see Creating a Shift Analyzer Rule for details.

  1. Click  >> Shift Analyzer.

The Shift Analyzer screen will appear.

  2. To use your Shift Analyzer rules to add shift hours for a whole department (or several departments) of employees, follow these steps:

    1. Under Employees (in the left pane), click .

The Employees dialog box will appear, displaying your departments in a tree structure.

    2. To select individual departments, you may need to click the expansion arrow to the left of your top department's name.
Note: You can select all your departments by clicking the check box to the left of "Name" at the top left.

You can select the Show Inactive Employees toggle to display inactive employees in tree in addition to active ones. ( means selected, and  deselected.)

    3. Expand higher-level departments until you find the one you need, if they're not already expanded.

    4. Select the check box to the left of each department name to which you want to apply all your Shift Analyzer rules.

    5. Click Apply.

The number of employees added will appear in the Employees pane.

    6. Skip down to step 4.

  3. To apply your Shift Analyzer rules to the time card of a single employee (or a few employees) by name, follow these steps:

    1. Under Employees in the left pane, type the employee's name (or part of it) in the Search Employee field.

Matching names will appear in a drop-down list.

    2. Select the employee from the list.

    3. Repeat steps a and b for all the individual employees that need shift modifications.

The names of employees added will appear in the Employees pane.

  4. In the right pane, click the Start Date calendar picker and select the beginning of the time span to apply your rules to.
Note: This should be in the past, as the Shift Analyzer examines all the chosen employees' time cards to determine if the shift criteria in any of your Shift Analyzer rules is present (and if so, then adds the extra time).
  5. Click the End Date calendar picker and select the end of the time period.

  6. Click Run Shift Analyzer.

All the Shift Analyzer rules that are active for your organization will be applied to any shifts that meet their requirements for the selected employees, and a success message will appear at the top right of the screen, saying how many shifts were added.
Note: If you added the shifts in error, you can remove them by clicking Run Shift De-Analyzer.
