This article covers how to select the route/tiers you are driving using the CalAmp K-12 mobile app, including running a vehicle's assigned route, entering a different route, searching for a route, adding runs (such as if you are substituting for another bus for a single tier), switching runs, and ending service.

Running Your Vehicle's Assigned Route

If you are running the route associated with the bus you are driving or are working on as an aide/monitor, follow these steps:

Note: If you are running your vehicle's assigned route but need to add a run to your list of runs because you are ALSO substituting for another bus, follow the steps in the section "Running a Different Route and/or Performing a Substitution Run" instead.

  1. Log in to the app as shown in Logging In and Out, using your employee punch ID.

After logging in with a punch ID, you'll be given the option to turn on Vehicle mode.

  2. To choose the bus you are driving (or working on as an aide/monitor), tap Select Vehicle.

The Set Vehicle screen will appear.

By default, you'll search for the bus by vehicle name.

  3. If you need to search using the VIN (vehicle identification number) instead, tap VIN.

  4. If you want the search to return only vehicles that are near you, select Show Nearby Vehicles. ( means selected, and  deselected.)

  5. Type part of the name or VIN in the search field.

  6. Tap .

Only vehicles that match your criteria will be returned.

  7. Tap  in the row of the bus you are driving.

You'll be asked if you are serving the route associated with the selected bus.

Note: If it's not the right time of day to begin the vehicle's current tiers, instead, the Are You Driving a Route dialog box will appear. You'll need to follow the steps in the section "Running a Different Route and/or Performing a Substitution Run." Begin with step 8.
  8. Tap Yes.

The Review Runs screen will appear, with the runs for the route for the current time of day preselected.

  9. If you need to remove a run from the list, tap it to deselect it.

  10. If the runs are correct, tap Continue.

You'll be asked if you are ready to start your route.

  11. Tap Yes to proceed or No to make changes.

If you tap Yes, you'll go right into the Stops list and begin your service.

Caution: If your school district uses CalAmp K-12 to handle your work shifts, make sure that you clock in at this point. Go to Clocking In and Out for details.

Running a Different Route and/or Performing a Substitution Run

If you are running a route that is not associated with the bus you are driving or are working on as an aide/monitor, follow these steps:

Note: Follow these steps if you are substituting for a different bus's tiers in any part.

You'll be asked either if you are serving the route associated with the selected bus (if there is one) or if you are driving a route.

  8. If the Are You Driving a Route? dialog box appears, tap Yes.

If the Are You Serving Route XXX dialog box appears, tap No and then Yes in the Are You Driving a Route? dialog box.

The Select Runs screen will appear.

  9. Tap the row of the route you are running to expand it and see its tiers.

  10. Tap the tiers you are performing (or you can tap the route name to select all its tiers).

You can expand multiple routes if you are performing runs from more than one route — for example, if you are running all of route 100/AM's tiers but also two tiers for route 101/AM as a substitute bus.
Note: You can search for the tiers by tapping Search, entering your search criteria on the Search Runs screen, and tapping Search at the bottom right. Only routes/tiers that match your search criteria will then appear in the Select Runs list. (Then perform step 10.)

  11. After all the routes/tiers you need are selected, tap Continue.

The Review Runs screen will be displayed and will show your chosen runs.

  12. If you need to remove a run from the list, tap it to deselect it.

  13. If the runs are correct, tap Continue.

You'll be asked if you are ready to start your route.

  14. Tap Yes to proceed or No to make changes.

If you tap Yes, you'll go right into the Stops list and begin your service.

Caution: If your school district uses CalAmp K-12 to handle your work shifts, make sure that you clock in at this point. Go to Clocking In and Out for details.
