If you have received a message from a driver that was sent via their vehicle's MDT (mobile data terminal) and need to reply to them, such as to respond to a question, you can do so on the new Mail screen as follows:

Note: You can also use the steps below if the only message that has been sent was from dispatch, such as if you haven't heard back from a driver and want to send a follow-up message.

For more information about sending and receiving messages from the MDTs, including the features of the new Mail screen, see Navigating the New Mail Screen.

  1. Open the conversation thread and read the message, as described in Reading a Conversation.

  2. Click  at the top right of the Conversation Details pane.

    A Reply window will appear.

  3. Type your message in the Message box.

You can use a maximum of 512 characters. You'll be prompted how many characters remain at the bottom right of the Message box.

  4. Optionally, you can select High Priority to mark the message as such for the driver. ( means selected, and  deselected.)

  5. You can leave the Reply All radio button selected to send the reply to all the vehicles in the conversation.

Alternatively, you can click the Select Vehicles radio button and choose only certain buses involved in the conversation.

  6. Click Send.

The Reply window will close, a success message will appear at the top of the screen, and you'll be returned to the conversation thread.

Your new message will be displayed at the top of the thread. If the vehicle ignition is on, the driver's MDT will inform them they have a message, which they can read when the vehicle is stopped.
