The HCTB menu is available only if your organization has purchased both Comparative Analysis (CA) and Here Comes the Bus (HCTB). If you don't have these modules and would like to add them, contact your customer success manager (CSM).

This article describes the various features of the HCTB Activity Categories screen, which you access by clicking  >> Activity Categories.

Note: For information about the banner at the top and accordion menu on the left, see Navigating the Synovia Site.

Activity categories enable you to group your activities into hierarchical categories that can help you manage them. For example, you might create an activity category named "Music Programs," in which you place subcategories of "Orchestra," "Band," and "Choir." In those child categories, you would place individual activities for music competitions or performances your students need to travel for (and thus your HCTB account holders want to track).

Note: For more details about Here Comes the Bus activities, see the articles in the folder HCTB Activities.

These are the options along the top right of the screen:

  • : Begins the process of adding a new activity category for your organization. (See Adding a HCTB Activity Category for details.)

  • : Refreshes the data on the screen (which can be especially useful if other users are making changes).

  • : Removes the selected activity category from the system. (See Deleting a HCTB Activity Category for details.)

Here is an explanation of the grid icons and column headers:

  • : Opens the Edit screen, on which you can change the activity category's properties. (See Editing a HCTB Activity Category for details.)

  • Name: The name of the activity category.

  • # Activities: The number of activities assigned to the category.

  • Last Modified By: The user who last made a change to the category's properties.

  • Last Modified Date: The date and time of that last change.

Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data, if needed. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
