Using the Itineraries drop-down panel in Fleet Tracking, you can track vehicles based on what itinerary they are assigned to. An itinerary is a vehicle's assignment for an entire day within a date range defined by the route set. Often, itineraries are named by vehicle number, such as 128, 344, and 855. A route is a subset of an itinerary, defined by the time of day (AM, MID, and PM), such as 128 AM, 128 PM, and 855 MID. A tier is just one run of a route, designated for a specific delivery, such as 128 AM - Tier 1, 128 AM - Tier 2, and 128 PM - Tier 1.

Note: The Itineraries panel appears on the Fleet Tracking screen only if your organization has purchased the Comparative Analysis (CA) module. (See An Introduction to Comparative Analysis for more information about CA.)

To track vehicles based on itinerary assignment, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Fleet Tracking.

The Fleet Tracking screen will appear and display a map of your area.

  2. At the top of the map, click the Itineraries drop-down arrow.

Initially, just your customer name will appear at the top of the tree (or names, if you are a consortium customer and have access to more than one account).

  3. Click the expansion arrow of the customer name containing the itinerary you want to track.

All the itineraries will appear, listed by name/number.

  4. Click the check box to the left of the name of the itinerary whose vehicle you want to track, such as the 101 check box in the preceding figure.
Note: Normally, one itinerary will mean only one vehicle, but that could be different if a substitute bus runs one route or tier. In that case, you might want to expand an itinerary and select a particular route, such as 101 AM in this example. You could also expand the route name to choose just one tier.

Alternatively, you can view an entire itinerary by typing its name in the Search box and waiting a few seconds.
The vehicle(s) for the itineraries, routes, or tiers you selected will appear on the map, and the tracking information will appear in the grid beneath the map.

Note: To make the Itineraries panel disappear, click anywhere outside of the pane (or click Itineraries again).
Fleet Tracking will automatically begin watching the vehicle(s) in real time (called Watch Live). To turn off the Watch Live feature, click in the map toolbar at the top right. (See Watching Vehicles Live for more information.)

See Tracking a Vehicle for descriptions of the grid column headings.

See Customizing the Grid Layout to customize the vehicle results grid columns or Sorting and Filtering Column Data to sort and filter the data.

Note: If you want to make the map bigger, you can click  to make it full-screen.

If you'd like to make the results grid bigger, you can click and drag the green divider line above it up.

See Navigating the Fleet Tracking Screen for an explanation of the icons at the top right and other map features.
