The Input Monitor enables you to view all the streets where a specific input is or has been active. For example, you can confirm whether the roads in a specific area were snowplowed in both directions after a snowstorm. This article covers how to plot past input activity on a map of your area. For steps on watching the inputs live (plus viewing their operation over the last 12 hours), go to Watching Live Input Activity Using the Input Monitor.

Note: For details about the features of the Input Monitor screen, plus an introduction to the Input Monitor, see Navigating the Input Monitor Screen.

The Input Monitor feature is included in Core but not enabled by default. Contact your customer success manager (CSM) or solutionsupport@calamp.com if you would like the screen activated and to begin tracking certain inputs.

Caution: The request to enable inputs for monitoring requires 24 hours to take effect, and you can map the history only for dates after the day the Input Monitor feature was initiated. In other words, if monitoring of an input was activated on May 6, you can display historical information only from May 6 on.

Also note that some street segments may not be indicated even when the input was operational if no GPS reporting event occurred when the vehicle was on that road. It may be necessary to increase the reporting frequency when the input is enabled. If you observe significant data discrepancies, contact your CSM or solutionsupport@calamp.com.

To map a past history of your inputs, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Input Monitor.

The Input Monitor screen will appear.

  2. Click the expand arrow to the right of Options.

    The Options pane will appear.

  3. Click .
Note: Alternatively, you can type an individual vehicle's number in the Find Vehicle field and select it from the drop-down list.
    The Vehicles list will appear.

  4. Expand the group containing the vehicles whose historical events you want to map and then select their check boxes. (Or select the group's check box or the All Vehicles check box.)

  5. Click Close.

  6. By default, the first input you have listed will be the one selected for the event to plot on the map. If you want to view a different event, follow these steps:

    1. Click Choose Event.

The Select Events toggles will appear.

    2. Click the input type whose past events you want to map.

    3. Click Close.

  7. Click the History tab.

  8. Click the From calendar and time pickers and specify the start date and hour of the activity you want to map.

  9. Click the To calendar and time pickers and specify the end date and hour.
Note: If you're familiar with the Live tab's functionality, you might be looking for the options to display multiple color-coded time blocks. As the purpose of the History tab is to show events in the past (not today's activity), only one color path is available.
  10. Optionally, you can click the Color drop-down arrow and select a different color for the pathline from the color picker.

  11. Click Plot History.

The input activity history will appear on the map, with details in the grid.

The arrows indicate what direction the vehicle was heading on the street when the input was active, so if you see arrows going both directions, both sides of the street were covered (such as would be required of a snowplow).

  12. If you click one segment of the input path on the map, its row will become selected in the grid so that you can see its data, and the map will zoom in on the location.
