The Input Monitor enables you to view all the streets where a specific input is or has been active. For example, you can confirm whether the roads in a specific area have been cleaned by a street sweeper. This article covers how to watch the inputs live, plus color-code the activity of the last 12 hours. For steps on checking input history, go to Checking Historical Input Activity Using the Input Monitor.

Note: For details about the features of the Input Monitor screen, plus an introduction to the Input Monitor, see Navigating the Input Monitor Screen.

The Input Monitor feature is included in Core but not enabled by default. Contact your customer success manager (CSM) or solutionsupport@calamp.com if you would like the screen activated and to begin tracking certain inputs.

Caution: The request to enable inputs for monitoring requires 24 hours to take effect. In addition, some street segments may not be indicated even when the input is operational if no GPS reporting event occurred when the vehicle was on that road. It may be necessary to increase the reporting frequency when the input is enabled. If you observe significant data discrepancies, contact your CSM or solutionsupport@calamp.com.

To monitor live input activity, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Input Monitor.

The Input Monitor screen will appear.

  2. Click the expand arrow to the right of Options.

    The Options pane will appear.

  3. Click .
Note: Alternatively, you can type an individual vehicle's number in the Find Vehicle field and select it from the drop-down list.
    The Vehicles tree will appear.

  4. Expand the group containing the vehicles you want to monitor and then select their check boxes. (Or select the group's check box or the All Vehicles check box.)

  5. Click Close.

  6. By default, the first input you have listed will be the one selected for the event to monitor. If you want to monitor a different event, follow these steps:

    1. Click Choose Event.

The Select Events toggles will appear.

    2. Click the input type you want to monitor.

    3. Click Close.

  7. To monitor multiple color-coded time blocks, follow these steps:

    1. Click Double (for two blocks) or Triple (for three).

Color lines for each new block will appear, yellow-orange and red by default.

    2. Click and drag the rightmost end of the green segment to how many hours ago you'd like the first block to cover, such as four hours.

    3. Click and drag the rightmost end of the red segment to as early today you'd like to plot on the map, such as twelve hours ago.
Note: You do the third segment before the second one because you can't drag the second line out past where the third one ends initially.
    4. Click and drag the rightmost end of the yellow-orange line to cover the middle time segment you'd like to see, such as between four hours and eight hours ago.

    5. Optionally, you can click any of the Color drop-down arrows and select a different color for that pathline from the color picker.

  8. Click Watch Activity.

The input activity will appear on the map, color-coded by time as you have specified, with details below the map.

In this example, current input activity, plus up to four hours ago, is color-coded green; activity that occurred between four and eight hours ago is yellow-orange; and events from eight hours to twelve hours past are red.

The arrows indicate what direction the vehicle was heading on the street when the input was active, so if you see arrows going both directions, both sides of the street were covered (such as would be required of a snowplow).
