If you need to delete an inspection item, follow these steps:

Note: See An Introduction to Inspection Forms for details about the components of an inspection template (the template, its groups, and the items) and an overview of the features of the Inspection Setup screen.

If you think you might need the item in the future, rather than delete it, you could temporarily disable it by turning off its Show in Device option (see step 9 in Editing an Inspection Item).

  1. Click  >> Inspection Setup.

The Inspection Setup screen's Templates tab will appear.

  2. Click the Items tab.

  3. If there is no check box to the left of the item's name, it is part of a template, and you cannot delete it. If you are certain that you do not need the item, you must remove it from the group it is in (that is in that template); you can do so as follows:

    1. To see what template the item is attached to, on the Items tab, click  in the item's row.

The Edit Item screen will appear.

    2. Look at the Templates list under the Severity option; all the templates the item is attached to will appear there.

    3. Click  to return to the Items tab and click the Templates tab.

    4. Click  in row of the template containing the item and see what groups are in it.

    5. Click  to return to the Templates tab and click the Groups tab.

    6. Perform the steps in Changing a Group's Items or Name to remove the item from the group (see step 6 in particular).
Note: You may need to check in more than one of the template's groups to find the item you want to delete.
    7. Return to the Items tab of the Inspection Setup screen.

  4. Select the check box in the row of the item (or items) you want to remove.

  5. Click  at the top right of the screen.

A warning dialog box will appear.

  6. Click Yes.
