Event Points is a system you can use to track your drivers' performance. The Event Points screen is prepopulated with a list of various infractions and the points they cost against a driver.

The system starts the driver at 100 points for the time span in question. The points are deducted according to the occurrence of the events listed in the Name column — in other words, the driver scores 100 minus the values listed in the Points column for each event, so the closer to 100 the rating, the better.

This article describes the various features of the Event Points screen, which you access by clicking  >> Event Points.

Note: For information about the banner at the top and accordion menu on the left, see Navigating the Synovia Site. For details on how to check the ratings your drivers are receiving using the Event Points system, go to Viewing Your Drivers' Event Point Ratings.

These are the options along the top right of the screen:

  • : Refreshes the data on the screen (which can be especially useful if other users are making changes).

  • : Saves the grid data as a PDF you can print.

  • : Exports the grid data to an Excel spreadsheet.

Here is an explanation of the grid icons and column headers:

  • : Disables the event point. (See Disabling and Enabling Event Points for details.)

  • : Opens the Edit Points dialog box, in which you can change the value of the points the event costs the drivers. (See Changing an Event's Point Value for details.)

  • Event Number: A numeric identifier for the event associated with the infraction.

  • Name: The name of the Synovia event considered a violation.

  • Description: Explains the calculation of how the event subtracts from a driver's total point value.
Note: Some events are listed twice because exceeding the first event compounds the points subtracted. For example, when the driver first exceeds the speed limit (past your set posted speed threshold — see Speed-Related Settings for details), the Speeding event triggers 0.01 points to be removed; for every 1 mph over the threshold, it subtracts another 0.01 points.
  • Points: The number of points that cost against a driver due to the occurrence of the event.

  • Last Modified By: The user who last made a change to the event point.

  • Last Modified Date: The date and time of that last change.

Note: The Harsh events (events 126, 127, and 130) require an LMU with the capability to record that type of event, and they have to be scripted to be reported to the database. Contact your Synovia Solutions project manager or fleet advisor if you have any questions about this.

Note: There are more event point values you can specify on the Performance Categories screen for late (or too early) arrivals, per segment of a route. See Adjusting a Performance Category's Scale for more details.

Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data, if needed. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
