To track a vehicle, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Fleet Tracking.

The Fleet Tracking screen will appear and display a map of your area.

  2. At the top left of the map, click the Vehicles drop-down arrow.

  3. Click the expansion arrow to the left of the name of the fleet group containing the vehicle you want to track.
Note: To track an entire group, click the group's name instead of the expansion arrow.

  4. Click the vehicle number (or numbers, to track more than one vehicle).
Note: Alternatively, you can skip steps 3 and 4 and type the vehicle name in the Search box (and wait a second). If you enter just part of a name, all vehicles whose identifiers match your criteria will be included.
The vehicle will appear on the map, and its tracking information will appear in the grid beneath the map.

Note: To deselect all the vehicles you've chosen in the tree (even if only a few are selected), you can click  at the top left of the Vehicles panel. To make the panel disappear, click anywhere outside of the pane (or click Vehicles again).

Fleet Tracking will automatically begin watching the vehicle in real time (called Watch Live). To turn off the Watch Live feature, click in the map toolbar at the top right. (See Watching Vehicles Live for more information.)

The grid column headings are as follows:

    • Vehicle: The identifier for the vehicle, usually the bus number.

    • Primary Group: The main fleet group the vehicle belongs to.
Note: A vehicle can belong to more than one group, but it can have only one primary group.
    • Employees: The current employee(s) on the vehicle, such as the driver.

    • Route: The route the vehicle is driving.

    • Activities: The name of the Here Comes the Bus (HCTB) activity the bus is performing, if any. (This column will appear only if your school district has the HCTB Activities license enabled.)

    • Time: The date and time of the last event reported to CalAmp by the vehicle's GPS device.

    • Event: The last event reported to CalAmp by the vehicle's GPS device.

    • Ignition: The current state of the vehicle's ignition, such as OFF.

    • Speed: The vehicle's current speed in miles per hour.

    • Heading: If the vehicle is in motion, the direction it is heading.

    • Location: The vehicle's current address (or zone).

    • Distance: The number of miles the vehicle has traveled today.

    • Student Count on Board: The number of students who have scanned on to the bus. (This column will appear only if your school district has purchased the Student Ridership module.)
