Using the CalAmp K-12 mobile app, you can make two changes to a vehicle's properties: updating the vehicle name and swapping out its device/ESN (electronic serial number). For all other edits, you'll need to go to CalAmp K-12. (See the folder Vehicles for articles about the System Administration >> Vehicles screen.) To make a name change or swap out the ESN for a bus via the app, follow these steps:
- Log in to the CalAmp K-12 mobile app. (See Logging In and Out for details, if needed.)
The Filter Vehicles screen will appear.
- Tap the name of the group containing the vehicle.
- Tap the Vehicle List tab.
The app will display a list of the vehicles in that group.
Note: You can search for the vehicle by tapping in the Search bar at the top, typing its name/number, and then tapping
. - Tap the name of the bus.
The Vehicle Details page will appear, showing the vehicle's activity for today.
- Tap the Admin tab.
The vehicle information will be displayed.
The Vehicle Information section shows the name of the bus and its device's ESN.
- To change its name, follow these steps:
- Tap on the name text, delete the characters you don't want, and type the new name.
Then tap anywhere else on the screen.
At the far right of the Name row,

- Tap to save the name change.
A success message will appear.
- Tap OK to dismiss it.
- Tap on the name text, delete the characters you don't want, and type the new name.
- To swap out its device/ESN, follow these steps:
- At the far right of the ESN row, tap
.
The Swap ESN screen will appear and list all the ESNs of your devices.
Note: You can search for the ESN by tapping in the Search bar at the top and typing part of the number. The list will be limited to only ESNs that contain the characters you enter.
Caution: Be careful to find the exact ESN of the new device that was installed in the vehicle! - Tap the new ESN.
A success message will appear.
- Tap OK to dismiss it.
The new ESN will appear in the Vehicle Information section.
