You can correct the Incomplete Shift exception right from the time card.

Note: For information about shift exceptions, see An Introduction to Shift Exceptions.

Any day that has an incomplete shift will have the following indication at the top of the time card, right underneath the employee's FTE value:

The number in parentheses after "Incomplete Shift" indicates how many incomplete shifts exist for that day for the employee. The shift itself will appear in the job type's usual color (as specified on the TAA System Administration >> Job Types screen) but will also have diagonal stripes across it; here are three examples:

To fix an incomplete shift from the time card, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Time Cards.
Note: Alternatively, you can open the time card from another screen (such as Shift Exceptions by right-clicking the incomplete shift and selecting Open Employee Time Card) and skip down to step 3 or 5 (depending on whether you opened the time card or the shift's edit screen directly).
The Time Cards screen will appear and show the time card of the first employee in your organization, alphabetically.

  2. Select the employee's name at the top left of the screen, type part of the name of the worker whose incomplete shift you need to fix, and click the name in the short list that appears.
Note: You could instead click the drop-down arrow to the right of the employee's name at the top left of the screen, scroll through the list, and select the name you want.
    Their time card will appear.

By default, the current week's hours will be displayed.

  3. If the incomplete shift is in an earlier week, click  to the right of Today at the top right of the time card as many times as necessary to find the correct time frame (or click the calendar picker and select a day within the week you want to view).

  4. Double-click the incomplete shift.

The Editing Time Card screen will appear and display the incomplete shift in red.

  5. If the clock-in time is missing, under Edit Shift, click the Start time picker () and select the correct punch-in value.
Note: A driver's work is linked to their vehicle's activity and appears in the GPS Reference Data grid, so you can use the actual driving hours recorded by the GPS device when fixing their shift. (You may need to click at the top right of the screen for the data to load.) For example, to set a new Punch In time, select the correct row in the GPS Reference Data grid and then click the Fill from GPS button () to the right of the Start field and icons. You can do the same for the Punch Out time (using  to the right of the End field and icons).
  6. If the clock-out time is the missing value, under Edit Shift, click the End time picker and select the correct punch-out value.

  7. Click Save Shift.

A message will appear saying that the shift changes were successfully saved.

  8. You can return to the time card if needed by clicking  at the top right of the screen.

Note: Any time a shift is edited, the change is recorded in the database, stating which user made the modification. Such user activity can be seen by running the TAA Audit Trail report (via Core >> Reports).
