On the HCTB Settings screen, you can specify how long the bus will be visible to parents on the map, based on if your home or school bus stop has occurred or a length of time after GPS inactivity.

Note: For more information about the HCTB Settings screen, go to What Settings Are on the HCTB Settings Screen?.

To set how much of a bus's route parents can view on the Here Comes the Bus map, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> HCTB Settings.

The HCTB Settings screen will appear.

  2. Click the HCTB Visibility tab.

The top setting in this figure (with a value of 144 minutes) shows the current default practice, which allows parents to see the bus on the map for the entirety of its route and then some — two hours and 24 minutes, to be precise, after the bus's last GPS event was reported to Synovia — usually, after it has finished its route and has been parked at its yard.

  3. To change this time, select the current value in the Minutes Visible. . . field and type a new one, or you can click the + or - buttons to raise or lower the value, respectively.

For your morning (AM) and midday (MID) bus stops, you have the options of allowing HCTB account holders to view the bus up until the bus stop at their homes has been registered (and then for visibility to cease — the Home Stop Complete option) or the bus's entire route until it reaches the school, so that they can watch to see when their children have been dropped off (the School Stop Complete option).

  4. To limit your morning or midday routes' visibility accordingly, click the AM and/or MID selector ( means selected, and  deselected) and then select either the Home Stop Complete or School Stop Complete radio button.

For your afternoon (PM) bus stops, you can limit the visibility to show the route from the school pickup up until the bus stop at the students' homes has been registered (Home Stop Complete).

  5. To limit your afternoon routes' visibility accordingly, click the PM selector ( means selected, and  deselected) and then select the Home Stop Complete radio button.

  6. Click  at the top right of the screen.
