You can request time off in the Time and Attendance (TAA) Portal (https://portal.synovia.com), included with the TAA module, if your organization has that set up (by selecting the Enable Time Off Request option in the TAA module, on the Employee Settings tab of the Portal/MDT Settings screen).

Note: For details about the TAA Portal user interface, see Navigating the TAA Portal. For information about the TAA module, see An Introduction to Time and Attendance and Navigating the Time and Attendance Module.

To request time off, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the TAA Portal (https://portal.synovia.com), as described in Logging In to and Out of the TAA Portal.

  2. Click Request Time Off.

The Request Time Off screen will appear.

  3. Click the Absence Type drop-down arrow and select the type of leave you are requesting, such as Vacation.
Note: The types that will be available in the drop-down list are those that appear in TAA on the Absence Types screen.
  4. Click the Time Frame drop-down arrow and select the time of day you are requesting off, such as Full Day.

  5. Click the Start Date  and select the first day you would like to take off.

  6. Click the End Date  and select the final day of the time period you want off.
Note: If the request is for a single day or for a partial day, select the same day for the start and end dates.
  7. If you feel you need to provide an explanation, type that in the Notes box, such as "I have the flu" for a sick day.

  8. Click Submit Request.

The portal will report that the absence request has been made, and the request will appear in your Current Absence Requests grid.

  9. You can see the details of the request by clicking  at the far left in its row to expand it.

The Status column will contain one of these values:

    • Requested: The absence request has been submitted but hasn't yet been approved, denied, or posted.
Note: As long as the status is still Requested, you can make changes and then click Save. If the status is Approved, Denied, or Posted, you can no longer edit the request.
    • Approved: The request has been fully approved, has now been entered as an absence in TAA, and can no longer be denied.

    • Denied: The request has been fully denied and can no longer be approved.

    • Posted: The absence was previously approved and submitted for payroll.

If your supervisor has responded to your request, the expanded record will include a Supervisor Notes field, in which they may have included an explanation of the approval or denial.
