Planned vs. Actual (PvA) is part of the Comparative Analysis (CA) module; it enables you to compare all the planned stops and stop times for your vehicles against the actual stops and times. The Planned vs. Actual by Stop menu option launches the Planned vs. Actual by Stop screen shown in the preceding figure, from which you can find the itinerary whose PvA data you want to see and open its map/comparative data screen (which is also titled "Planned vs. Actual by Stop"). An itinerary is a vehicle's route assignments for an entire day as specified by your routing system. Often, itineraries are named by vehicle number, such as 001, 342, and 855.

Note: For more information about Comparative Analysis, see An Introduction to Comparative Analysis.

This article describes the various features of the PvA launch screen, which you access by clicking  >> Planned vs. Actual by Stop.

Note: For information about the banner at the top and accordion menu on the left, see Navigating the CalAmp K-12 Site.

These are the options at the top right of the screen:

  • /: When  is clicked, it displays past route sets' itineraries as well as those of the route set currently being used. By default, only the current route set (including today's date) is shown.  returns the list to that view.
Note: Pulling up all your past route sets can take the system a minute, so be prepared for a short wait. For more information about route sets, see Route Sets.
  • : Refreshes the data on the screen.

Here is an explanation of the grid icons and column headers:

  • : Opens the Planned vs. Actual by Stop Legacy map screen for the itinerary, which displays its planned and actual stops on the map and in a grid with times and other details. See Viewing Planned vs. Actual Data for more details.

  • : Opens the new Planned vs. Actual by Stop map screen for the itinerary, which looks almost identical to Planned vs. Actual by Stop Legacy and also displays the planned and actual stops on the map and grid. See Viewing Planned vs. Actual Data for more details.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO PVA BY STOP SCREENS?
In February 2022, CalAmp K-12 launched a new PvA engine in beta, which improved the backend handling of comparing planned and actual bus data and provided new screens, a quicker method of substituting vehicles, and other features. The new PvA engine went live for all customers in May 2022. opens the earlier version of the PvA by Stop page, whereas  opens the new one. The new screen has slightly different column headers and a faster system behind it.

  • : If your organization has mobile data terminals (MDTs) with Navigation, opens a Navigation screen, on which you can troubleshoot potential issues before implementing Navigation, by plotting tier data on the map, including the planned stops and planned navigation path with waypoints, and checking the import and Nav polylines.

  • District: The school district the itinerary is assigned to.

  • Itinerary: The number/name of the itinerary, which is often (but not always) the vehicle number.

  • Route Set: The route set the itinerary is part of (usually named with the school year and the applicable part of the year, such as 2024-2025 School). A route set contains all the route data from the CA import within a date range.

  • Vehicle: The vehicle number/name that is running the itinerary.

  • School: The school(s) the itinerary drives to.

  • # Active Tiers: The current number of tiers in the itinerary. A tier is a portion of a route designated for a specific delivery, and a route is a vehicle's assignment for a portion of a day, such as the morning (often labeled "AM") — for example, a route may be 124 AM, and one tier of it may be 124 AM - Tier 1.

  • Nav Match %: The percentage of waypoints from your route planning system that are good matches with CalAmp K-12's Navigation waypoints.

Along the bottom of the screen are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
