If there is a designated location in your organization that needs special speed rules — such as a transportation complex in which drivers are not supposed to exceed 10 mph — you can create a zone speed rule. This will trigger the Zone Speeding event in Synovia, which you can view on the Vehicle History screen, set up an alert for, or check using the Speeding report.

Note: See Creating a New Alert for details on adding an alert to watch for the Zone Speeding event.

To create a zone speed rule, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Zone Speed Rules.

  2. Click at the top right of the Zone Speed Rules screen.

The Add New Zone Speed Rule screen will appear.

  3. Type a name for the new rule in the Name box.

  4. Choose the days of the week you want this rule to be active by clicking their selectors. ( means that is selected, and  deselected.)

  5. To set a start and an end time for the zone speed rule, click the Start Time and End Time time pickers and select the times. Or you can click within the fields and type the times.

  6. Type the speed your drivers aren't supposed to exceed in the locations in the Speed box.

  7. Click the Zones tab.

Note: You must specify zones the speed rule applies to; if you don't assign zones to the rule, the Zone Speeding event will never be triggered.
  8. Click the check boxes of the names of the zones for which you are creating the rule in the Out of Zone Speed Rule box (on the right).

  9. Click .

The zones will appear in the box on the left.
Note: If you added any zones by mistake, you can remove them by clicking their check boxes in the In Zone Speed Rule list and clicking .
  10. Click  at the top right of the screen.
