To add a vehicle to your fleet, follow these steps:

  1. Click >> Vehicles.

  2. Click at the top right of the screen.

The Add New Vehicle screen will appear.

Note: The fields on your screen will likely differ from the example in the preceding figure, as they are dependent on the settings you've enabled in Preferences >> Settings.
  3. Type the details of the vehicle in the fields, such as the vehicle name (usually its number).
Note: You specify the vehicle type (as designated on the Vehicle Types screen) for inspection purposes, idling time, and applicable events using the Vehicle Type drop-down list.
  4. Click  at the top right of the screen.

  5. Assign the vehicle device's ESN, as shown in Adding a Vehicle's ESN, so that it can be tracked via GPS.

  6. Add the vehicle to a fleet group, as shown in Assigning a Vehicle to a Group. If the vehicle isn't assigned to a primary group, it won't appear in Fleet Tracking or any of the reports.

  7. Assign the vehicle to a yard, as shown in Assigning a Vehicle to a Yard, so that Synovia can track when it starts its route.

  8. Optionally, to have Synovia keep track of the vehicle's odometer value, you can enter the vehicle's odometer reading; see Inputting a Vehicle’s Odometer Setting for details.

  9. If the vehicle has a peripheral device such as an MDT-7P, input which kind by following the steps at Assigning a Vehicle’s Peripheral Type.

  10. To add installation data for the vehicle, see the second section of the article Viewing and Adding Installation Records for a Vehicle ("Adding an Installation Record for a Vehicle").
