An employee type is a general classification of worker, such as Driver or Bus Monitor. Employee types are used in Time and Attendance (TAA) to differentiate which workers are able to perform certain jobs, who receives holiday pay (and for which specific entered holiday), who can log in via the TAA Portal, and who can use a mobile data terminal (MDT).

Note: If you're confusing the terms employee type and job type, see An Introduction to Employee Types and Job Types for an explanation.

To add a new employee type, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Employee Type Management.

The Employee Types screen will appear.

  2. Click  at the top right of the screen.

The Add New Employee Type dialog box will appear.

  3. Type the name of the new type in the Name field.

By default, the new employee type will have privileges to use both the TAA Portal and your MDTs. You can skip step 4 if this type of employee will need to access them.

  4. If you don't want workers assigned to this employee type to be able to use these, deselect Portal Access and/or Show on MDT. ( means selected, and  deselected.)

  5. Click Save.

A success message will appear at the top right of the screen, and your new employee type will appear in list.
