If you would like to update the basic properties for several vehicles at once, you can upload the data in bulk. You can only bulk load values for four of the fields of the Edit Vehicle screen: vehicle name, driver name, VIN, and license plate.


Note: You must have administrator privileges to bulk load vehicle properties.


To perform a bulk load to update these basic vehicle fields, follow these steps:


  1. Click  >> Vehicles.
     
    The Vehicles screen will appear and show all the vehicles in your fleet, listed by name/number and electronic serial number (ESN).
      
  2. Click  at the top right.
     
    The Bulk Load Data dialog box will appear.
      
  3. Click Download Template.
     
    The bulk load template, Vehicles.csv, will be downloaded to your computer.
     
  4. Open Vehicles.csv in Excel.
     
    The file will contain all your vehicle IDs and names.
        
  5. Do NOT change any of the values in the first column, Vehicle ID (Do Not Modify). These are the database IDs that uniquely differentiate each vehicle in Synovia.
     
  6. If you need to change any of the vehicle names, select their current Vehicle Name value and type over it with the new name/number.
     
  7. To enter or change the driver names, VINs, or license plate numbers, select the current values (if any) in the row of the vehicle under Driver Name, VIN, or License Plate and type the new information.
    Note: You can delete all the rows of vehicles that don't need changed, or you can leave all the other rows as they are.
  8. Save the file, keeping the .csv file format.
     
  9. Back in the Bulk Load Data dialog box in Synovia, click Choose File.
     
  10. Navigate to and select your modified Vehicles.csv file.
     
    You'll be returned to the Bulk Load Data dialog box, and "Vehicles.csv" will appear in the Data File field.
      
    The number of vehicle records you are changing will appear below the Data File field.
     
  11. Click Update Properties.
     
    You'll be returned to the Vehicles screen, and a message at the top right will inform you how many vehicle records have been updated successfully (and how many failed, if any).
