Occasionally, you will find that a duplicate vehicle is created during Synovia's nightly import of your fleet data from your route planning system, when an existing vehicle appears to the system to be a new one. When this occurs, you can fix the problem by merging the duplicate vehicles into one entity, as follows:

  1. Click  >> Vehicles.

    The Vehicles screen will appear.

  2. Click  at the top right.

The Merge Duplicate Vehicles screen will appear.

The leftmost grid, Untracked Vehicles, lists vehicles that don't have an ESN assigned; therefore, they are likely to have been added erroneously during import.

The middle grid, Tracked Vehicles, shows vehicles that do have an ESN.

  3. Select the vehicle in the first grid you noticed was a duplicate.

  4. Select the matching, original vehicle in the second grid.

  5. Click Match at the bottom left.

The two vehicles will appear in the third grid, Matched Items.

The next vehicle in the each of the first two grids will become selected.

  6. If you need to merge those as well, click Match at the bottom left.

If you need to merge any other vehicles, scroll to them and repeat steps 3 through 5 (as many times as needed).

  7. After you have matched all the duplicate vehicles, click Merge at the bottom right.
Note: If any vehicle name varies from its match, a warning dialog box will appear.

If you selected the wrong two to match, click Cancel, but if they should actually be matched, click Yes.
A "Vehicle(s) Merged" message will appear at the top right, indicating that the duplicate records have been removed from the database, and you'll have only the actual, original vehicles in Synovia.
