On the Defect History screen, you can see all the vehicles in your fleet that had items your drivers failed (the defects) when filling out inspection forms on your mobile data terminals (MDTs), plus the number of defects per vehicle. To do so, follow these steps:

Note: The MDT menu (and Defect History menu option) will be available in Synovia only if your organization has purchased mobile data terminal devices.

  1. Click  >> Defect History.

The Defect History screen will appear and list vehicles with any failed items from inspection forms your drivers completed.

The number of days of results returned depends on what setting you chose the last time you visited the screen; whatever time period you selected then will be displayed again.

  2. To change the days' total, click  at the top right of the screen.

  3. Click the Alert History drop-down arrow and select the number of days of reported defects you want to see — the last 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 15 days, or 30 days.

  4. To see the defects that have been marked as repaired as well, select Include Fixed Defects. ( means selected, and deselected.)

  5. Click Apply.

Only results from the time range you selected will appear.

Here's an explanation of the column headers:

    • Vehicle: The name of the vehicle, usually a number.

    • Driver Name: The name of the driver who filled out the inspection form.

    • # of Defects: The count of failed items for the vehicle.
Note: If the vehicle had more than one form submitted during the time period, each driver's submissions will be listed in their own row and have their own defect count (such as vehicle 0301 in the figure above).
    • Primary Group: The primary fleet group the vehicle is assigned to.

    • Device ESN: The electronic serial number, a unique identifier for the vehicle's location messaging unit (LMU).

    • Last Event Timestamp: The date and time of the last event the vehicle reported to Synovia.

    • Last Location: The address from which that last event was sent.

    • Last Diagnostic: The date and time the last diagnostic message was transmitted to Synovia.

  6. To see all the defects reported for a vehicle in an inspection, click  in its row.

  7. You can scroll through the grid at the top to review the failed inspection items.

  8. To mark a defect as repaired, click its row.

  9. Click Mark as Fixed.

Your username will appear in the Fixed By column, and today's date will fill in the Fixed On value.

  10. To add a note for an item, first click its row.

  11. Type your comment in the Add a Note to Defect Name box.
