After you've created an inspection template in Synovia (see Creating an Inspection Template), including all its items and groups, you can publish the form to your mobile data terminals (MDTs), so your drivers can then fill out the form as they inspect their vehicles. To do so, follow these steps:

Note: See An Introduction to Inspection Forms for details about the components of an inspection template (the template itself, its groups, and the items) and an overview of the features of the Inspection Setup screen.

  1. If you've just created the inspection template and are still on the Add New Template screen, skip down to step 4.

  2. Otherwise, click  >> Inspection Setup.

The Inspection Setup screen's Templates tab will appear.

  3. Click  in the row of the inspection template you want to send out to the MDTs on the type of vehicle the form is set to publish to.

The Edit Inspection Template screen will appear.

  4. Click  at the top right of the screen.

A warning dialog box will appear.

  5. If you are ready to send the inspection form to the vehicles (and have it replace the previous version of it on the MDTs, if there is one), click Yes.

You'll be returned to the Templates tab, and a success message will appear at the top right of the screen.

The # of Forms value (the number of times versions of this inspection form have been published to the MDTs) will be incremented by one.

This is how the list of forms appears on the MDT Select Inspection screen:

And here's an example of the first few items of one inspection form:

Note: To publish the inspection form to a second type of vehicle (such as to a Bus vehicle type, in addition to your Trucks), after completing the above steps for the first vehicle type, follow the procedure in Editing an Inspection Template to change the template's vehicle type and publish the template again.
