The type of engine diagnostics (ED) hardware necessary to read fault codes and provide information when a problem occurs in the engine depends on the vehicle in which it is being installed:

• Heavy-duty solution: For heavy-duty vehicles such as school buses and large trucks, Synovia provides the LMU-42XX series units with internal JPOD daughterboard, using the J1939 or J1708/J1587 protocols.
   
• Light-duty solution: For light-duty vehicles such as cars and smaller trucks, Synovia provides LMU-3030s, connecting to the OBD2 port.
