The Route Monitor is part of the Comparative Analysis (CA) module; it provides live information about planned route performance, displaying the current status of your routes.

Note: For more information about Comparative Analysis, see An Introduction to Comparative Analysis.

To monitor your vehicles' routes for the current time of day, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Route Monitor.

The Route Monitor screen will appear and display all your routes for this time of day in a grid on the left, and the vehicles will appear on the map.

The grid lists the routes by primary group, route name/number, tier name, vehicle performing the route, status, how far off of plan the route has been deviated from, and location of the vehicle.
Note: The Deviation value will be a positive number if the route is running late and a negative number if early; for example, a value of -17 means that the route is seventeen minutes ahead of schedule.
The Status column has the following possible values:

    • Early: The last stop the vehicle performed was early, based on the planned time and the specified Early time range in Performance Categories. (See Performance Categories for information about performance categories.)

    • Extra: The vehicle last performed an unplanned (extra) stop.

    • Late: The actual time of the last stop was later than the scheduled stop time, within the specified Late time period.

    • Missed: The planned stop was not made. (Buses that are assigned to a route but were substituted out may also show a status of Missed.)

    • Not Started: The vehicle hasn't started driving its route. (It's more than 30 minutes before its planned start time.)

    • On-Time: The actual time of the last stop matched the planned time, within the specified On-Time time period.

  2. To limit the grid's data to only certain status types, follow these steps:

    1. Click  at the top right of the screen.

The Options dialog box will appear.

    2. Select the status types you want to appear in the grid and deselect those you don't want to see. ( means selected, and  deselected.)

    3. You can select Connect the Points for a feature that draws a line between each point on the map.

    4. Click Apply.

  3. To view stop data for just one of the routes, click it in the list.

The route's data, including the tier names, stop addresses, status of the stop, and planned and actual stop times, will appear in the lower grid on the left, and just its vehicles will be shown on the map. The data will be refreshed every two minutes.

The Status column in the lower grid has the same values as the upper one, plus Pending, which means that the stop hasn't been made yet but is planned for later in the route (such as if the driver is running the route in a different order than planned).

On the map, the blue stop icons represent planned stops, and the red icons represent actual stops.

  4. To export the grid data to PDF or Excel, click the or  button at the top right of the screen.
Note: If you have one route's details open in the lower grid, both grids will be exported. For the PDF option, the map will be exported as well.
